ORLEANS, Ma. – The Orleans Chamber of Commerce is hosting the fifth annual Santa Stampede 5K and Family Fun Run in East Orleans, Saturday, Dec. 2. The race will begin and end at The Barley Neck Inn, 5 Beach Rd. Registration for the race is open now and entries will be accepted until race day. The race will begin at 10:30am.
Along with the timed Santa Stampede 5K, vendors from premier sponsors Friends’ Marketplace will be present at the race with samples and DJ Matty Dread of WOMR/WFMR will provide pre- and post-race entertainment. The Chamber has added a free Mini Claus run for children younger than 12 years old. The course will be a shorter, age appropriate distance and will precede the main race.
Runners are encouraged to create a festive costume to wear during the race. Awards for the Overall Fastest in Holiday Costume, Overall Fastest Military & First Responder, the Overall Fastest Mr. Claus, Ms. Claus, Mini Claus, and the Most Creative Holiday Costume will be given at the Post Race Party hosted by The Barley Neck Inn. A “Red Sack Raffle” will be held for the top three finishers in male and female divisions in eight age categories.
Registration fee for the race is $25 and the first 200 registered runners will receive a long-sleeved T-Shirt. Applications can be found at orleanscapecod.org and at businesses throughout Orleans. A Pre-Registration and Number Pick-Up event will be held at Marathon Sports in Yarmouth on Friday, December 1st, 3pm-6pm. Printed applications can be mailed to or dropped off at the Orleans Chamber of Commerce. Registrations will also be taken on the day of the race, but runners who sign up that day will not receive the pre-registration fee discounts.
