The Cape and Islands United Way will present the second annual Visionary Award to Shawn DeLude, owner of Nauset Disposal and well-known community philanthropist.

Tony Shepley and Shawn DeLude

Sponsored this year by Today Real Estate, the Visionary Award recognizes an individual who “doesn’t see things as they are, but what they could be.” It will be presented at the Best Night annual gala, held this year at the Pelham House Resort in Dennisport. This major fundraising event celebrates the community impact of the Cape and Islands United Way and its nonprofit partners. DeLude, a resident of East Orleans, has been a long-time supporter of the organization, serving on the board for many years. Nauset Disposal has been and continues to be a major sponsor and supporter.

DeLude said he was honored by the recognition, but typical of him , he deflected the credit to his team. “I couldn’t do it without them. I’m honored to be associated with the Cape and Islands United Way.”

Last year’s Best Night event was virtual and honored Tony Shepley with the inaugural Visionary Award. This year’s event, with limited capacity, will begin at 5:30 and includes a cocktail reception, musical entertainment, a live auction and a “fund-a-need” pledge appeal.

All proceeds benefit the work of the Cape and Islands United Way, collaborating and connecting to help solve issues around housing, financial stability, education, health and food security.
