This month the Community Development Partnership will begin offering training and technical assistance to small businesses on the Lower Cape at Provincetown Commons.

Located at 46 Bradford Street, Provincetown Commons is a year-round working space for creative individuals, artists, entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. For 26 years the CDP has assisted numerous businesses on the Lower Cape through training, technical assistance and micro-loans.  Working together, the two organizations are focused on strengthening the year round economy on the Outer Cape.

CDP Chief Executive Officer Jay Coburn says, “The CDP is excited to bring our services to Provincetown.  There are many small businesses looking for assistance.  Whether someone is looking to launch a business or strategically grow an existing one, Provincetown Commons is providing us with the space to offer these services where they are needed.”

The CDP will launch its business technical assistance at the Commons beginning Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 10am – 1pm.  Drop-ins are welcome, but those with a scheduled appointment will be given preference.  These sessions are free to Lower Cape small businesses.

The CDP offers an array of programs to its small business clients.  In particular, when a group training is not the solution to an owner’s business needs, one-on-one individual consulting often leads to finding solutions for specific business challenges.

Individual consultations with CDP staff can address a variety of topics including setting goals, record keeping, QuickBooks, business planning, cash flow projections, or starting a business. Additionally, staff will have information available on our other programs designed to help small businesses:

·         The CDP has allocated funds through its Professional Services Grants to offer small business clients matching grants to hire professional services. These grants may be used to hire lawyers, designers, accountants, web designers, marketing specialists, or other consultants.

·         The CDP also offers micro loans up to $40,000 for small businesses on the Lower Cape.  We are able to lend to businesses who have limited credit history, are unable to obtain a bank loan or who need help developing a business plan or cash flow projections.  We even work with local banks offering loan packaging to potential applicants.

The CDP’s small business technical assistance program is funded by the Mass Growth Capital Corporation and a USDA Rural Business Development Grant.
