JUNE 10, 2018 – Experience the electrifying virtuosity of Cherry Rhodes, one of our era’s most outstanding concert organists who will perform on the E. M. Skinner organ at the Church of the Transfiguration on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Cherry Rhodes was the first American to win an international organ competition (Munich). During her brilliant career, she has toured extensively throughout the major music capitals of America and Europe, performing in major cathedrals, churches and concert halls, and with many legendary conductors. Cherry has been asked to do numerous inaugural performances on strategic instruments, and was one of the first organists to perform on the famous organ at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Cherry is not only a sought-after musician, but also conducts master classes and mentors young organists who themselves are winning top organ competitions.
The concert will be held on Sunday, June 10th at 3:30pm at the Church of the Transfiguration, Rock Harbor, Orleans. The concert program features a variety of styles and color combinations including J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E Minor, BWV548, Messiaen’s Combat of Life and Death, Fr. Joseph Walter’s Puer natus in Bethlehem, Lidón’s Four Pieces for the Mass, and Reger’s Fantasy and Fugue, op.135b.
