Winner of eight Tony Awards, including best musical and best score, Evita is among  the most challenging and memorable scores in musical theater.  William Roudebush, director of last season’s hit musical The Light in the Piazza, directs with musical direction by Cape Rep Resident Musical Director Scott Storr.  Eva Perón’s journey to charismatic, powerful and controversial First Lady of Argentina from her poverty-stricken roots on the outskirts of Buenos Aires is a star-making, tour de force role in this rarely produced musical.  Cape Rep’s 30th Anniversary season is made possible with the generous support of Cape Air, our season sponsor.

Cape Rep newcomer, Rachel O’Malley plays the title role joined by Zal Owen as Che and A. Bryan Humphrey as Perón.  The cast includes Cape Rep company members Chelsey Jo Ristaino as the Mistress and Anthony Teixeira as Migaldi, as well as Garrett Almeida, Marie Becklo, Tom Leidenfrost, Ari Lew, Hannah Matusow, Eleanor Tynan, Jonathan Tomaselli, Shauna Condon, and Nell Daisy Hamilton; Allison Davis stage manages.

Cape Rep’s 30th Anniversary season opened with Failure:  A Love Story by Philip Dawkins May 7 through June 7, followed by the regional premier of John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar, June 25 through July 25.  The Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical Evita plays from August 4 through August 29.  Resident Playwright Art Devine’s new play, A Cloud of Canvas, will receive its world premier from September 17 through October 18 and the season will close with the Tony-winning musical comedy, La Cage Aux Folles, playing from November 5 through December 6.  The Outdoor Theater Children’s Show is Mo Willems’ Elephant and Piggie’s “We are in a Play!” which runs Wednesdays and Thursdays, July 1 through September 3 along with Mary Wilson’s popular Pitter Patter Puppets on Tuesdays from July 7 through August 25.
