May 16, 2013 –– Cape & Plymouth Business, the only regional business magazine covering Cape Cod, Plymouth, the South Shore and the Islands, is pleased to announce a collaboration with the Family Business Association. The goal of the collaboration is to leverage the strengths of both Cape & Plymouth Business and the FBA to help showcase the important role that family businesses play in our regional economy.

The FBA is the leading independent, nonprofit organization serving family business enterprises in Massachusetts. It provides educational programming and a forum for these businesses to collaboratively exchange knowledge and experience. The Family Business Association is dedicated to the recognition and implementation of best business practices and ethical standards among these enterprises.

“We are extremely pleased with the partnership with Ed Tarlow and his team at the FBA as both of our organizations are passionate about helping family businesses network and succeed in our region,” said Robert Viamari, Publisher of Cape & Plymouth Business magazine.

As part of its mission, the FBA hosts an annual awards program, honoring family businesses statewide. Cape & Plymouth Business will be working closely with the FBA to encourage businesses in our region to participate in the nomination process, and to educate businesses in Southeastern Massachusetts about all the FBA has to offer.

On September 19, 2013, Cape & Plymouth Business in conjunction with the FBA will be holding an educational event for local family businesses. This is the third year in a row Cape & Plymouth Business has held an event focused on family businesses.

The 2013 Family Business Association Awards for Massachusetts will take place on October 24, 2013. We encourage family businesses to apply for these awards, or you can nominate a family business; the nomination and application forms can be found at http://fbaedu.com.  All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on August 16, 2013.

Cape & Plymouth Business will also offer its readers tips and information from the FBA that will help all family businesses succeed, as well as profiles of family businesses from the region honored by the annual awards program.
