Local Nonprofit and chamber member Cape Cod Ocean Community (CCOC) continued their winter webinar series and hosted a recent Webinar highlighting the visibility of sharks off of Wellfleet.  CCOC continues into year three of their work towards public safety initiatives concerning shark dangers..  CCOC recently made a financial donation to local research firm Moosh Systems who presented on their Wellfleet project. (Mooshsystems.com).

The Moosh team conducted surveillance of Wellfleet shores in the summer of 2020.  They captured compelling footage and have shared their research of swim patterns close to shore in a presentation also available on their website MooshSystems.com.

Kris Sexton, founder of Moosh has proven in this presentation that the potential for drone effectiveness not only in studying shark presence and behavior from the air, but also the real ability to alert the public. This Moosh study also demonstrates the low-cost entry point to acquire the equipment and run such a program.    Contact CCOC on their website Capecodoceancommunity.org to learn more about 2021 surveillance plans, as well watch prior webinars.
