Orleans, MA (June 19, 2013) — Is your dog tops?  Is your pooch worthy of being Agway’s Top Dog of Cape Cod? If your dog is red carpet ready and wants his or her 15 minutes of fame, Agway wants to know!

In honor of their 20th Anniversary Celebration this summer, Agway of Cape Cod has launched its first-ever “Agway’s Top Dog of Cape Cod” contest.  Customers are invited to send in a picture of their special pooch along with an entry (250 words or less) describing why their dog should be voted “Top Dog”.   The top 10 entries will be selected by Agway staff and invited to strut their stuff on the red carpet at Agway’s 20th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, July 20 at the Orleans store.  A local radio DJ will crown the Top Dog during a live broadcast and the winner will be awarded a year’s supply of dog food from Agway and be featured in the Cape Codder.  The runner-up will receive a $100 Agway gift card and the third place winner will receive a $50 gift card. Entries are free and can be submitted on Agway’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/agwaycapecod.

Agway will mark its 20th anniversary with an all-day party in the Agway of Orleans parking lot (20 Lots Hollow Road) on July 20.  In addition to the crowing of the Top Dog, they’ll be offering special deals, free ice cream and hot dogs, face painting, a dunk-tank, a doggie photo kissing booth, live entertainment, and more. Employees and attendees will be able dunk the Wile family (owners of Agway) and managers in the dunk tank.  Door prizes, including a Made On Cape trash shed, a new Grill, a $500 Nursery Shopping Spree, and a year’s supply of horse feed (over $1500 value), will also be up for grabs.

Agway of Orleans was opened by Peter and Susan Wile in 1993. Since then, they have opened additional stores in Dennis and Chatham. Now with three stores and nearly 100 employees during the busy spring season, the Wile family has settled in as a proud member of the mid- and lower-Cape business communities.  Peter and Susan are still active owners.  Son Joshua is now Senior Vice-President of the company. Daughter Jessica is Assistant VP working in the nurseries and marketing.  Visit www.agwaycapecod.com for more information.
